And I think I am going to change the piracy rule a bit. I'm not nervous about the sharing of ancient games like this really. What I am nervous about is sharing links to modern games and movies and such on here. Like with those Dreamcast releases I put out, I don't think Sega gives a damn about someone sharing a modified version of a game that never came to this country, for an abanonded console.

It is such a shame the Dreamcast went out how it did. I loved that console, if only the rest of the world loved the console just as much.

 Thanks!
Just a quick "Thank you!" for putting together this package. I'd figured out a lot of it on my own, geek that I am, but lacking the wads from the games I'd thrown away long ago, the experience was incomplete. I notice that you didn't package using the Snowberry addon feature but everything seems to work great. Thanks!

Yeah, right when I made this package, they came out with the beta of the new Snowberry gui, which replaced the GUI. However I tested it out for an hour, and it crashed on me three times, and seemed to offer LESS configuration options than the old Kickstart offered, and some of the enhancement packs would not work in it. It looked a bit fancier overall, but stability is more important to me, so I decided to stick with the old reliable Kickstart gui.
But I'm glad you liked it. This is the flowing torrent I have ever created. It always seems to have 30 or more dedicated seeds. I'm glad I was able to fill such a demand.
Oh and I think Snowberry has been updated 2 times since then, so perhaps it is better now.

I have been playing DOOM and using all the different source ports out there for a long time. I followed your instructions to the letter but still some textures don't show in highres.
Doomsday is a great port but it can be a real pain to install all these packs so they work correctly. I commend you however for your effort on behalf of all Doomers for this install.
I've found Risen3D also to be a good port which is easy to install.

Which textures are you having problems with? Any chance you could take a screenshot to show me? I might be able to tell you what the problem is.

This looks fabulous, and its the reason I even found your site. I am amazed at the work ya put into this file, and when I get home tonight I will be downloading and installing it, following your well written instructions.
I have a question though. Is it possible to run custom made WAD's, say like the Eternal Doom project using this program you packaged in?

Now that I do not know. I have heard of people trying to get custom Doom WADs to run, with some success. You should definitely ask around on the official forums, regarding that:

Keep in mind that the majority of those people may be using the newer Doomsday client which is in beta phase. It is DRASTICALLY different than the older stable version which I packed up together. I still suggest that you stick with the version I offer until they crank out a finalized version of the new one. Just keep in mind that if they give you instructions for getting your modded WADs to run, you may have to improvise a little when the instructions don't match up with what you're seeing.

Thanks Steve, this package and instructions are great! very easy process, but have you thought to do the same for snowberry for windows and Linux?, because it seems to be the "official" GUI for doomsday from now and Kickstart is only for Windows and I'm interested in dooming with Linux .

I'm going to give their new GUI a second chance one of these days. Maybe after it's been updated a few more times. I just had terrible experiences with it and I found kickstart to be the better choice right now, especially when I'm trying to help the new people grasp it.
