Another Blizzard game where I have yet to find a quality music rip for. Like StarCraft, I extracted the original WAV music from the appropriate MPQ archives on the discs. Fortunately, this time the MPQs had internal filename indexes, so I didn't have to guess which song was which. The downside is, some of these names are quite vague or a bit odd. For example, I don't believe that song actually plays during the Options menu. I'm not sure where it plays, so I left it named as such. In cases where I did know where a song played, I gave it a more appropriate name. The songs with "Action" or "Resolution" in the names are just how they were already named, and are basically just short pieces. Once again, remember that these songs were kept in their native 22khz quality. Raising the frequency would offer absolutely zero quality enhancement.

I am in no way a Diablo 2 expert. The track order was formed using a strategy guide and keyword searching within it. This is the best I could do. If you happen to be more familiar with the game, and could offer improvements to the order and names, please contact me at my site!

Also note that there does exist an official soundtrack CD for the game, however it is not a complete set of the music such as this. It's more like a selection of the most memorable pieces. The good news is that it is remastered in CD quality, and the tracks are often shortened and arranged in a fashion that better suits an album format. So you can either hunt that album down, or settle for this rip.

Post Options track
The music in track 2 was the original game's title music, replaced by track 1 in the expansion. Unfortunately, once the expansion is installed, you never hear the "second" track ever again, which I've always lamented, because the original music is much better opening music, in my opinion. This is the first site I've seen that hosts track 2, I've never seen it at battle.net.

Thanks for the info! I'll have to double check that myself next time I install.

Also, I'm playing on Bnet West Non-Ladder as Mozgus, if anyone wants to add me.

Nice work! You've done a fantastic job here. I was always sort of transported by the music when I played D2, this makes for good ambient listening, thanks!
